Where Are the True Pro-Union Democrats? They Aren’t at the DNC. And They Certainly Aren’t in Georgia

Americans for Fair Treatment (AFFT) is taking a stand against the blatant hypocrisy of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and the New Georgia Project, Inc., with two major unfair labor practice charges that expose serious violations of labor laws. These charges are a direct challenge to the so-called “pro-union” Democrats who claim to defend workers’ rights but continue to undermine them at every turn.

Let’s be clear: the DNC and the New Georgia Project are NOT champions of workers. Despite their political influence, they are actively working to strip workers of their rights. The DNC has been involved in mass firings of union employees, the exact action they regularly chastise private companies about, even in tough economic conditions. Meanwhile, at the New Georgia Project, workers have faced retaliation for simply attempting to organize.

These actions are blatant violations of the National Labor Relations Act and undermine the fundamental right of workers to freely choose union participation without fear of punishment. These are not isolated incidents. They are part of a pattern of systemic abuse that demonstrates the DNC and New Georgia Project’s disregard for worker autonomy. They are exploiting workers, not protecting them.

The time for reform is now. AFFT’s legal actions go beyond holding two organizations accountable. They are part of a larger movement to expose the hypocrisy of so-called “pro-union” Democrats. These political elites claim to fight for workers’ rights, yet their actions are pushing coercion, fear, and political control into workplaces. It’s time to hold them to their own rhetoric.

We believe in real workers’ rights. That means the right to choose whether to join or support a union without fear of retaliation. It means workers should be free from political coercion, harassment, or wrongful termination. This is not a radical position. It’s the bedrock of what labor rights should stand for. Yet, the DNC and New Georgia Project, with their overwhelming political power, have shown themselves to be anything but champions of worker autonomy. Their actions demonstrate that they care more about political control than worker freedom.

AFFT will continue to expose these abuses and hold unions accountable for their overreach. If the DNC and New Georgia Project want to claim the title of “pro-worker,” they must stop engaging in coercive practices and respect the right of workers to choose freely.

This isn’t just a battle for two organizations. It’s a fight for the soul of the labor movement itself. It’s about creating a labor system where individual rights are supreme and these rights are upheld, not trampled.

The true pro-union Democrats? They’re not at the DNC. They’re certainly not in Georgia. They should consider standing with AFFT, fighting for the real rights of workers.
