There’s been a lot of talk in the media lately about teachers strikes. One of the nation’s largest teachers’ union vows to call a strike if certain demands are not met: $15 minimum wage, defund the police, and a wealth tax. Here in New York City, UFT is also demanding criteria that seems impossible to meet, like testing of every student and all personnel.
Teacher strikes in New York are illegal and serious business. Every day a teacher is out of the classroom, they risk losing two days of pay. If you don’t want to go without a paycheck to support your union’s political agenda, we should talk.
