PSEA uses dues-funded magazine to support Josh Shapiro for governor

In their July edition of Voice Magazine, PSEA’s monthly dues-funded member magazine, the union published a two-page article titled “For PA governor, the choice is very clear.” The piece goes on to endorse Josh Shapiro for governor while bashing Doug Mastriano.

“We need Josh Shapiro in the governor’s office. Because if Doug Mastriano wins, he will lead to the most aggressive attacks on public education that we’re likely ever to see,” the piece reads.

It goes on to claim that as governor, Josh Shapiro will “address the educator shortage by increasing salaries for all school employees to recruit and retain educators.” Though, no governor has the jurisdiction to raise municipal employee salaries. Ironically, it is up to each bargaining unit’s respective union to collectively bargain for any salary increases.

The magazine also included two ads from PSEA’s political action committee, PSEA PACE, calling for donations to Shapiro’s campaign.
